Disaster Preparation

September is National Preparedness Month. The annual campaign reminds us  that preparing for emergencies and disasters can keep you, your family, and our community safe. This year’s theme is “Starting a Conversation.” Download your preparedness kit.

Additionally, here in Alameda we have a community CERT program. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides training to Alameda residents and employees of Alameda businesses to help increase self-sufficiency in the event of a disaster. Participants learn skills that will enable them to provide emergency assistance to their families and neighbors. The program provides self-paced online training for interested people. Business Advising

If you have a specific question regarding your business, check out the resources with the East Bay Small Business Development Center (SBDC). This tax-payer funded organization provides free one-on-one advising that is 100% confidential. It also can help with funding information, planning, marketing, and management resources.

Economic Planning

Finally, if you’re wondering what’s coming down the economic pike, there’s no better event to attend than our Alameda Economic Forecast on September 26th. This signature event features two of the top financial people in the state of California – Treasurer Fiona Ma and Controller Malia Cohen as well as a panel of business leaders across various sectors.
