Beware of the Ideas of March! No, that isn’t a mistake. It is the Ides of March (3/15) but it’s also a time when we have to protect ourselves from ideas that aren’t going to work in your business. Often, at the end of the first quarter, businesses reevaluate what is working and what isn’t.
It’s also a time as weather gets warmer to keep everyone on task. Employees are focused on spring vacation/break with families. It’s also a time of restlessness where businesses may be tempted to throw the “baby out with the bath water.”
If you’re reevaluating things in your business, do so in a deliberate way. Think long term and look at anticipated trends.
To be able to do that, you need to know what’s going on around you. You need good information and must understand what’s planned in Alameda and beyond.
One of the best ways to prepare for this year is to attend our State of the City where Mayor Ashcraft will deliver an address as well as participate in a Q&A session with the City Manager, Chief of Police, and other agency directors. Attending this critical event is the best way to get the information you need for success in the coming year and beyond.
Celebrate the Ides of March by making it all about the (great) Ideas of March instead. Embrace that spring energy and marry it with the exciting changes that are happening within our community.
We hope you’ll join us on April 7th at the State of the City.
