1st United Services Credit Union

Our Mission
To provide a lifetime of simpler, faster, friendlier financial services for our members.

1st United Services Credit Union has a long history of service in the Bay Area and has the distinction of being one of the first credit unions in the State of California. The credit union was originally founded in 1932 as City & County Employees' Credit Union in order to serve Alameda County Employees. The field of membership was expanded shortly thereafter to include employees of cities and school districts located within Alameda County.

In 1996, CCECU merged with ALFA Federal Credit Union, founded in 1941 as the financial institution for Naval Bases in Alameda, Lemoore, Concord and Fallon, NV. To more accurately describe the combined civil and military service resulting from the merger, the name 1st United Services Credit Union was chosen. In addition to city, county, and military, 1st USCU's field of membership includes select companies and other public agencies.

In 2001, 1st United Services Credit Union became a community chartered credit union. Membership is open to anyone who resides, works, or attends school in Alameda or Contra Costa counties in California. 1st USCU is pleased to offer our members 10 branch locations throughout the California east bay.

Why 1st USCU?

Credit unions are not for profit organizations, unlike banks, which are in the business of making money for their shareholders. Membership entitles you to share as a "financial partner." Rather than paying stockholders, credit unions return earnings to members in the form of higher dividends and lower loan rates. This means you can enjoy low cost loans and higher yields on savings and investment options.

AAA

We trace our history to a 1900 meeting of car buffs at
San Francisco’s famed Cliff House. Recognizing the need for better
roads, signage and auto-friendly laws, these car owners formed the
Automobile Club of California (ACC) to deal with barriers that hindered
acceptance of the automobile. In 1907, ACC merged into the newly
incorporated California State Automobile Association (CSAA), which
formally affiliated with the American Automobile Association (AAA).
Today, as AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah, we continue to
provide services to millions of Members. And we’re proud to be a
leading advocate for safe and responsible transportation and a provider
of traffic safety education to diverse and underserved communities.

The New Century
In an effort to provide more convenience to Members, we
continued to expand our online presence as we began the new
millennium. In 2000, through a joint effort with the California
Department of Motor Vehicles, we offered Members with AAA
Auto Insurance the convenience of renewing their automobile
registration via the Internet. That year also saw the launch of an
online version of
VIA
magazine. And in 2001, we completed a 12-
year effort to digitize our entire library of maps.
Committed as always to developing new ways to help keep our
Members on the road, we launched AAA Battery Service,
providing roadside battery diagnostics and new battery installation
right on the spot.
As a leading advocate for road safety, we responded to the
increasing instances of “road rage” with a survey to help us
identify the region’s “Rudest Roads” and offered instructions on
how to deal with aggressive drivers.
The public’s embrace of environmental concerns grew more
intense as the 2000s continued. In response, we established the
AAA Greenlight
®
Initiative to help Members make sense of new
alternative fuels and green transportation options.
As the century progresses we continue to look for new ways to
bring value to our Members. And based on our history, we will
never lack for innovation.

AC Transit

AC Transit is an innovative, modern bus system, owned by the public of the East Bay. Its family tree dates back to 1869…the year Americas two coasts were joined by the transcontinental railroad with the driving of the golden spike. In the same year, 1869, the Suez Canal opened, linking the Mediterranean with the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. That’s the year when AC Transit’s first predecessor began carrying passengers from the Jack London Waterfront into burgeoning Oakland in a horse-drawn rail car.

AEC Living

AEC Living is a group of two independently operated facilities  – each developed by the Zimmerman Family to serve the needs of the Elderly in the East Bay.

The mission of AEC Living is to allow Residents to “age in place” while helping them to achieve the greatest possible level of self-sufficiency.

The two facilities:  Waters Edge Lodge and Elders Inn complement each other creating a continuum of care from assisted living to skilled nursing. The addition of Alameda Elder Services and the rehabilitation agency allows Alameda Elder Communities to assist all Elders in the local community to achieve their highest level of independence.

The continuum of care provided by these three facilities allows Residents to move between the three levels of care as needed. Our primary goal is to provide a loving, nurturing and supportive environment that promotes optimum physical, mental and spiritual well-being. We strive to rehabilitate and/or maintain Residents at the highest level of functioning at which they are capable of obtaining. The Residents are to be treated with dignity and respect at all times and in all circumstances. The quality of care is equal for all Residents regardless of the method of payment for their care.

We are dedicated to providing the best Eldercare to our Residents. Our care is provided without discrimination as to age, disability, race, color, national origin, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
